Bethesda's Tamrielic MMO The Elder Scrolls Online is getting a new DLC pack in February called Dragon Bones that will feature a pair of brand-new dungeons populated with new and old enemies who are dead-set on unleashing "the deadliest plague Tamriel has ever known." Named Scalecaller Peak and Fang Lair, each of the new dungeons will be available in normal and veteran modes, with a veteran Hard Mode boss waiting at the end of each.

Shortly after the Hearthstone expansion Kobolds & Catacombs went live, Blizzard discovered that the game wasn't behaving exactly as it should. (...)The good news is that to make up for the hassle, Blizzard is giving everyone three free Kobolds & Catacombs card packs. The packs will arrive as a Battle.net gift in early January.
Update (January 4): The free packs are here, and can be found in the gift area of Battle.net (the icon is in the upper-right corner, next to your name).

Hyper Universe is a 2D action game with MOBA-inspired systems like lanes, minions and towers. I had fun with it when I played it last September, and later this month it's officially leaving Early Access and ditching its price tag. As of Wednesday, January 17, Hyper Universe will be free-to-play.

http://www.pcgamer.com/spanish-government-axes-24-million-in-funding-for-indie-devs/
A €2 million ($2.42 million) grant slated to fund Spanish indie developers is now dead in the water.
According to a report from El Español (translated by Polygon), Àlvaro Nadal, Spain's minister of energy, tourism, and digital agenda, cancelled the grant for unspecified reasons. The decision comes just one week before a presentation by DEV, a Spanish videogame association, on the state of the industry.

>>As someone from Spain I can tell you that this is true, but also that the minister has already backpedaled and the funds will be granted as usual.

2K Games announced earlier this week that the Cree, led by Pîhtokahanapiwiyin—or Poundmaker, as he's more widely known—are being added to Civilization 6 in the upcoming Rise and Fall expansion. That does not sit well with the leader of the real-world Poundmaker Cree Nation, who told CBC News that the game's portrayal of Indigenous people is "very harmful," and based far more on Hollywood than on actual history.

Rxcovery is a free RPG about battling modern healthcare
http://www.pcgamer.com/rxcovery-is-a-free-rpg-about-battling-modern-healthcare/
Rxcovery is a turn-based RPG about Ezo, an unconscious patient in a hospital I wouldn't recommend, and Recovery, an android nurse who's handy in a fight. Ezo is on life support, but his insurance will only pay for another 30 minutes of treatment. Unless he collects $400,000 in 30 minutes, he's dead. Thankfully, the powers that be accept Dream Dollars, which Ezo can earn in his sleep.

Hi-Rez president explains why 'Battlegrounds' name was chosen for Paladins' new mode
http://www.pcgamer.com/hi-rez-president-explains-why-battlegrounds-name-was-chosen-for-paladins-new-mode/
Yesterday at Hi-Rez Expo 2018, free-to-play hero shooter Paladins: Champions of the Realm announced a new battle royale mode named Paladins: Battlegrounds. In the face of the rising trend, more games are adding similar modes to their makeup, however this one's name raised a few eyebrows—given how closely it reflects PUBG Corp's megahit PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
Now, Hi-Rez Studios president Stew Chisam has explained why he and his team opted for 'Battlegorunds' over, say, battle royale, or a similar appendage.
