Just a public service announcement for PSN members -

This afternoon I received an email from Sony Entertainment Network informing me that the email address associated with my PSN account had been changed. Of course, I hadn't changed it an neither did my son, so I tried logging into PSN from my PS4 and sure enough the password wasn't working. I tried it from my laptop on playstation.com and it didn't work there either. (trigger alarm bells in my head!)

So I jump onto the Playstation support site and start an online chat with a support tech (took about 10min waiting in the support queue first). The tech asked a few questions to verify my account and then sent me an email link to reset my password. She was not able (or authorized?) to tell me what the email address had been changed to. Btw kudos to Sony support. They handled it quickly and efficiently!

Luckily there was no odd activity in the account as far as I can tell - no unauthorized store purchases or anything like that - however my PS4 had be deactivated from the account so I had to reactivate it as my primary device.

Anyway, just wanted to relay my experience and to suggest that you keep an eye on your PSN notification email address to see if there is any odd activity happening in your account. My password was pretty strong so it is highly unlikely someone brute forced it. I suppose it also could have been some kind of system glitch on Sony's end, who knows.
