1. A game being multiplayer focused and if it's great will make you a lot of money in the long run. That's why Microsoft, EA, Blizzard and Activision are focusing more on it than ever before. Hell, I wouldn't be surprise if Sony focuses on MP games in the future. That's one benefit for the company. For gamers, If you look at log hours, you will see people spend hundreds if not thousands of hours on these online games. More than they will get on a sp game by almost ten folds at times.
2. PC users have the best and worst version always. Xbox will have the best and worse version always regarding consoles because the BC will extend for a very long time. Also, it's not just consoles itself, but many factors come to play. Someone on PS4 playing on SD t.v. or a sub par hd tv will play the worse version than someone playing on xbox one with hd tv. A lot of variables than just consoles, however right now the best possible way is still xbox one version of games because you can play it on xbox one x with a 4k t.v. And whose to say they won't upgrade their console in the future? The xbox one x will only get cheaper. Hell, I already seen a deal where you can get an xbox one x with a couple games for $450. The sales will only increase especially with price drops and more support.

1. But what does that have to do with the strength of their lineup?
2. I don't even understand how you can seriously make this argument. "Sure, the vast VAST majority of Xbox One gamers will be playing the worst version of most multiplatform games. But they're getting the best version...I promise."

1. Longevity and more games than the average consumer buy equals stronger lineup.
2. You don't know if the vast majority of original xbox one owners are playing the games worse than the original ps4 owners. When you take into count t.v., ISP, ect. Those can affect the game itself more than the console hardware. Especially since PS4 dominates countries in Europe where they can't afford a lot. PS4 owners can be playing games on 720p t.v. compare to an xbox one owner playing on 1080p t.v. All we know for a fact is the xbox one game has more potential than ps4 game with all the patches it recently received. And as time goes by they will upgrade because we already know the xbox one x is doing well right now.
