Value is very subjective and will thus vary from person to person.
Well. Microsoft was very conservative with the hardware, having such a mid-range GPU (At the time, now it's budget/low-end) wasn't ever going to ensure it was going to be competitive in any performance metric. |
Sure MS could have made a better or stronger X1. But we can't say MS won't/can't/shall not allow Sony to ever again launch a stronger console than MS... if they don't know what Sony is making, how will they be sure they are releasing something stronger??? In fact they probably thought X1 would be stronger than PS4 before announcement, and going by our fellow charterz Sony didn't even had money to R&D a good PS4.

Being a Indie game does not take away the fact its a exclusive new IP nor its quality. You are talking about one of the best Indie games to date on next gen not some freshed out game with no fan base. That article I linked you shows making dozen of IPs does not lead to better profits. MS seem to do just find with there IPs which seem to keep them happen enough to make more of. Xbox core fans? Please example what core fans are? You mean American's? Who buy Xboxes for there FPS etc? Is that where you are going with that? What's a Xbox core gamer? I know many core gamers on all platforms and some only play Fifa on PS4, some only play Racers on Xbox and Some only care about is Pokemon on Nintendo, however there just gamers with there preferences. I don't generalise gamers or there platform of choice. Everyone games differently. So you say Sony and Nintendo have Blockbusters yet MS don't? So Ori 2 doesn't count because its an Indie game? Sea Of thieves doesn't count either because its a new IP? What's a blockbuster to you? Example - Days Gone a blockbuster and State of Decay 2 isn't? |
Just go and look what genres sell better in each platform and you'll see the core fanbase.

1. A game being multiplayer focused and if it's great will make you a lot of money in the long run. That's why Microsoft, EA, Blizzard and Activision are focusing more on it than ever before. Hell, I wouldn't be surprise if Sony focuses on MP games in the future. That's one benefit for the company. For gamers, If you look at log hours, you will see people spend hundreds if not thousands of hours on these online games. More than they will get on a sp game by almost ten folds at times. 2. PC users have the best and worst version always. Xbox will have the best and worse version always regarding consoles because the BC will extend for a very long time. Also, it's not just consoles itself, but many factors come to play. Someone on PS4 playing on SD t.v. or a sub par hd tv will play the worse version than someone playing on xbox one with hd tv. A lot of variables than just consoles, however right now the best possible way is still xbox one version of games because you can play it on xbox one x with a 4k t.v. And whose to say they won't upgrade their console in the future? The xbox one x will only get cheaper. Hell, I already seen a deal where you can get an xbox one x with a couple games for $450. The sales will only increase especially with price drops and more support. |
1- A game being MP focused will piss off consumers that like SP games... and when your few exclusives are MPs and most big 3rd parties are MPs focused you lose the market of SP gamers.
2 - How many gamers have connect their PS4 with HDMI only exit to SD TVs?

I hate to agree, none of these games will entice new console buyers, these games aren't anything on the level of God of War and Spiderman which continue to build on the already strong IP's that Sony own or have exclusivity rights to which not only are high-quality games but also look good on an advertising board. I guess I'll have to cling to E3 for any hope of something other than Halo 6 that would truly be blockbuster material. Still, that doesn't mean that I won't be happy with one or all of these games. (at least Ori). |
Well, Sony or Nintendo having a better year or more hype doesn't take the enjoyment of the selected exclusives X1 will have.
| yvanjean said: It's not like there a shortage of games on Xbox one, sure Sony has more exclusives but in the early days of PS4, it was all about 3rd party games. 421 games came out on Xbox one in 2017 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_One_games In order to improve their current exclusive content Microsoft would have to spend on time exclusives which only piss off the general public and in the end it's not economical for Microsoft. Little has been said on what Microsoft has in store for us in 2018, but, I suspect the best exclusives might actually comes from indie titles. Xbox one X is now home to the best consoles 3rd party games it even improves Xbox 360 games and I think they made a better job on showing why Xbox one X is good for people with only a 1080p TV. When you buy an Xbox one you buy in the Microsoft Eco system.... Exclusives, game pass & superior Back-compact(Sony does have PS now). |
They have been promising to increase their 1st party output since the start of the gen.. so it isn't something that is new and they are having to cover up, it's their fault for a long time.

Xbox One controls near 50% of the American console market, the most important consumer market, has over 200 million in software sales which is massive licensing fees, just had their best November ever, has sold more units than N64, and Microsoft has more money than Nintendo and Sony combined. How do you envision them going under? |
How they control 50% of the market if Switch is selling more than PS4 and PS4 sells 2:1 X1 from Jan to October 2017? That would make the marketshare of X1 this year from Jan to October 20% and not 50%.
