Makes no sense...... Can't even believe this thread got this far.
The Switch being the most "powerful" console nintendo has made says a lot of you really look at it. They looked at their underpowered home console (wiiU) which was just a beefed up version of their previous home console (wii) and realized that with the current mobile tech available they could make a handheld console that was more powerful than both.
There is also the identity thing; there is a certain kinda game people have come to expect from sony. Be it their first or third party. Sony's entire identity and library thrive off these massive AAA gaming experiences. And those games are designed primarily for a living room or at the very least a home TV experience. Hence why we are hearing things like 4k, HDR, dolby surround sound...etc in all these games. Things that cater to that form factor.
Yes, with enough cuts and compromises you can make a good number of these games work in a hybrid form factor. But 70M+ sales or a 100M+ sales if we include the XB1 or 200M+ if we include PC gamers is a clear statement that thats not what a lot of gamers want.
Just very different markets. I had been saying it previously that what Nintendo needs to do is combine their platforms. They obviously have always done better in the handheld space than they have done in the home console space. Always. Just look at all their best selling hardware. That clearly shows that handhelds are Nintendo strength. And this hybrid now is them playing to those strengths.
Sony needs to stick to their guns and play to their own strengths too.
