How are they being competitive? They have been nothing but a failure this entire gen. Even at the beginning when they where never ahead, they tried implementing more shitty practices like drm and no used games and mandatory kinect. Consumers responded adequately and now they are selling like garbage in comparison to he ps4.

Aside from their shitty practices, one would think they pump out good software to try and win gamerd back, or change the view on the company but again, no they have had a lousy software output as well. They keep relying on the same 3 tired franchises, a bunch of tiny games, any new games they try that doesn't sell gangbuster they abandon instead of expanding on it, and they have cancelled multiple ips and studios. Third parties don't want to work with them cuz they try to force ideas like multiplayer on scalebound.

The only real advancement they seem to be going for is games as services which are some of the worst games in history. And I'm so glad this year people had enough and microtransactions reached a limit which will put a big damper on games as service.

Please tell me how the xbox has been competitive this gen. and please don't say something useless like its got a 4k bluray player, or its got useless features unrelated to gaming or the stupid its got a better online experience.

You, perhaps unintentionally, explained why competition is important. If MS was left in the market by itself they would have likely succeeded with pushing DRM, mandatory Kinect, and probably so much more. Hence why competition from Sony (particularly Sony since they seem to be in very direct competition), Nintendo, and digital platforms like Valve's Steam has been useful because it provided consumers with choice and sent a strong message to MS (hence the 180 turnaround with many of the things they wanted to do with the One). Similarly, Sony, Nintendo, Valve and any other company should not be left alone because they will more than likely end up abusing their monopoly position. I am not going to predict if MS is going to stay in the hardware race or not (that will depend on how well Xbox is doing and how much it corresponds with the company's vision in the consumer space and gaming going forward), but I will say that more competition is a good thing because users will have choice and the Xbox's existence has contributed to that. Just as with Sony, Nintendo, Valve etc., I hope MS stays in the game and continues to provide competition.

My comment was not about how competition was not important, we all know it is. My comment was that MS offers nothing and has not been competitive, sony can pretty much do what they want and disregard MS at this point because they offer nothing that would put sony or nintendo even close to think of them in any differently than the ouya.
