For me Sony broke into the industry and has remained strong due to games first. The only time I felt they left that thinking was first half of PS3 when they struggled. Sony tends to do evolutions based on what makes sense at the time. CDs in 1990s were the next technology, others used them, it was just baffling Nintendo didn't. DVDs were the natural next step. They may have jumped the gun a little bit with blu-ray, might explain why they held off on 4K UHD this generation.

When you buy a PlayStation home console you get a large and deep library of titles explaining its broad appeal across regions in the world. Sony, in general, gets vast majority of third party titles as well as having strong stable of first party. That has built a level of trust that it is a quality brand over 20+ years.

Couldn't agree more. My assumption for PS5 will be a culmination of all the past successes into a single box. The strong Exclusive titles. The next level of technology whether it's disc or cartridge media or digital only. PSVR and video throughput box all in one. If it's only thing I ask is the power to run at least 4 3.0 USBs. For external hard drive, charging controllers I otherwise do not have on a stand alone charger and for other Bluetooth device such as Headphones/ Mikes and whatnot. Either way I can trust Sony to deliver.
