Is PS4 the first console to sell like this without a fad?

Nintendo plans to sell 14 million units of the switch with motion controls in it's first year (March 2017 to March 2018).  I am seeing it as core for Nintendo.  They didn't make it core to the Wii U, and how well did that do...

motion controls is not whats selling the switch. its selling a little better then 3ds because, its actually a handheld with descent tech, and its also nintendo next home console. with a very strong library of games
