Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 multiplayer update has new modes, maps, guns

After suffering frame rate and load time issues at launch, CI Games thereafter suggested Sniper Ghost Warrior 3's scale was "just too ambitious" for a team of its size. The developer has since supported the tactical shooter with a number of updates and DLC, though, and has now confirmed its multiplayer update will arrive on January 26, 2018.

In what you might call a study in contrasts, last's week announcement of the upcoming addition of the Netherlands to Civilization 6, led by the Mary Poppins-esque Queen Wilhelmina, has been followed up by word today that the rapacious Mongol horde is on the way too, headed up by the mighty Genghis Khan.

Shortly after the Hearthstone expansion Kobolds & Catacombs went live, Blizzard discovered that the game wasn't behaving exactly as it should. Some players were experiencing delays in receiving new daily quests, because of the load placed on Blizzard's infrastructure by the apparently-unforeseen popularity of Dungeon Runs. It still hasn't been fully fixed, but Blizzard said today that a hotfix has "significantly reduced" wait times, and most players shouldn't notice any extra wait at all.

 

Ubisoft makes the World in Conflict multiplayer backend open source

Earlier this month, Ubisoft made World in Conflict: Complete Edition free (initially until December 11, although it's since been extended to December 23), and now it's gone one step further by making Massgate, the multiplayer server software, open source. That means that anyone who wants to can take, use, and modify the software, without restriction or charge.

Wild West Online expands character creation suite

So far, Wild West Online is more mild than wild, reckons our Chris—pointing out that while he did moderately enjoy his time with the in-development open world cowboy adventure, there isn't a whole lot to it as yet. Developer 612 Games has now expanded the game's character creation suite, which is also a work-in-progress.
