Managed to stay at 70-80 fps across the map for the majority of the match, but died within the last 30 players. I was ended by 3 players, who apparently joined forces, yet the match was on a free for all mode.

I don't mind the squad based mode, because it means you have to join up as a team, but I dislike teaming up in the free for all mode, mostly because in the end, those that team up will eventually have to turn on one another.

That is likely to happen even on real life... countries that should all be in a war for themselves decide to unite to destroy one enemy and then battle each other... it also happens in a lot of board games when the other players see one as dominant.
