I think anyone still arguing this fail notion are going to end up like the same mob who argued Wii would stop selling and fail. |
One question I have though is are these units that Nintendo sold to retail (ie shipped; which is the number Nintendo tends to report to investors) or is this the sold-through rate. If it is the sold to retail (shipped) then those numbers would be somewhat smaller than what would be needed to reach their target. If it is the sold-through rate then that means they are in a good position going into December to reach their target. They essentially want to ship as many units as they did with 3DS back in 2011 (ie LTD shipments should be around 17.78 million units by the end of March 2018). When we look back at the end of December 3DS was at LTD 12.4 million units sold and 15.6 million units shipped. If the Switch is going into December with 10 million units sold to customers, then selling around 2.4 million units by the end of December should be achievable, but if they shipped 10 million then I don't think it will reach 12.4 million LTD by the end of December due to limited stock in Japan and less competitive pricing in US and Europe for the family and children market.
