Dauntless' massive 'Sharpen Your Skills' update is out today, but its many promising additions also brought a curious subtraction. The option to hunt behemoths alone has been removed, presumably in favor of the new multiplayer region hunts. Granted, the update also includes matchmaking improvements said to make playing as a group easier, but some players might still want to fly solo.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is getting a new PvP update called Jungle Storm that will (finally) introduce ranked play to the game. Also on the way are two new classes, four new Elimination and Uplink maps, new weapons, and other updates for both PvP and PvE modes.

Romancing Saga 2 is an RPG by Square that sets players up as the leader of the Varennes Empire in its war against the Seven Heroes, a tale told through several generations of imperial succession. It was originally released in 1993 for the Super Famicon, and then re-released in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console in Japan, and then in 2014 on the Wii U Virtual Console. In August of this year it hit the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, and one week from today it will finally come to the PC.

Overwatch's upcoming competitive season 8, which launches in January, will bring with it some big changes to the way that players are matched within a team. Blizzard is currently testing a tweak to the matchmaking system that will close the gap between the highest and lowest skill ratings (SRs) on a given team, and will implement the change for the season's launch.

Subnautica, one of the best games set under the sea, has just received a meaty graphics overhaul. If you've never heard of Opus Magnum then you should definitely read Bruno's excellent piece about why it's impossible, and why that's okay. It's a complex puzzle game about alchemy in which you construct mechanisms to turn atoms or molecules into whatever it is you're trying to produce to advance the story. It's getting rave reviews on Steam and I haven't heard anyone say a bad word about it.

At first glance, Ylands looks like your standard survival game: you wake up on a desert island ready to craft tools, gather resources and fend off aggressive wildlife. But what sets it apart is the variety of things you can find and craft (diving off the starter island might net you some scuba gear and a treasure map, for example), as well as a game editor that lets you create an endless number of scenarios.
