I can't even comprehend what's trying to happen here. You do understand that the Switch isn't succeeding due to casual gamers? These are real gamers playing the Switch, awaiting new software. Nintendo's handheld and console divisions are both working on one device. A luxury that Sony and Microsoft have had for a while. And what exactly is a failure in this case? Are you a shareholder or perhaps an executive at Nintendo that analyzes their profits and revenue to dictate such things?

And why do we still think that traditional western 3rd party games sell Nintendo consoles? Nintendo and Japanese software have ALWAYS driven sales of hardware on Nintendo platforms. The IP is strong enough to do that across Nintendo's repertoire and the Japanese devs that will support it. I mean it's the story of the NES, SNES , N64, Gameboy, GBA, DS, Wii, Wii U, and 3DS. The best selling software is Nintendo software or by Square Enix, Capcom, Level 5, Konami, Namco, etc. The Switch as a console is selling because of the versatility and the software. What's so hard to accept about this? Why do we have to keep having this conversation every Nintendo console when only 1 of them caused Nintendo financial failure?

No, the Switch probably won't get Anthem or Doom 2 or Red Dead 2, Cyberpunk, etc. But that doesn't mean it's doomed to fail. The Switch will continue to sell well because of games like Animal Crossing, Pokemon and Smash Bros. which have yet to launch and once the hardware sales get to a point of no return developers of any orientation will want a piece of that software pie. If even Sony can't ignore its success and sees it as competition, I don't see how we can act like Switch isn't a true competitor that's here to stay.
