WarGames is a movie from 1983 about a young hacker almost starting World War 3. #WarGames, however, is a new interactive series said to reimagine the '80s film and is being headed up by Sam Barlow, creator of FMV masterclass Her Story.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a simple, devious game about climbing a mountain using only a sledgehammer (the blunt end) and wearing nothing but a cauldron. It first released exclusively via Humble Bundle on October 6. Foddy says over 2.7 million people have tried the game since, and a whole lot more have access now that Getting Over It is available on Steam for $8.

We got our first look at Eater of Worlds, the first Destiny 2 raid lair, in the Curse of Osiris launch trailer that arrived on our doorstep earlier this week. That expansion went live yesterday, and today Bungie announced that the doors to the new Leviathan joint will open on Friday.

Polygod, a "minimalist rogue-like FPS," reminds me a lot of Lovely Planet, with two scoops of Heavy Bullets thrown in for good measure—and a lot more bullets flying around. The gameplay is fairly straightforward: Battle as far as you can through randomly generated levels, empower your avatar with various good/bad upgrades, die, and do it again. But I really like its bright, untextured visual style (the music is pretty great too), and while it starts off fairly slowly, the action becomes frantic in a real hurry.

 

Cozy sandbox RPG Deiland was inspired by Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy

Where Stardew Valley asks you to build a farm, Deiland, an upcoming sandbox RPG from developer Chibig, asks you to build a planet. Its Kickstarter ends tomorrow, and has already raised more than double its $10,000 goal.

When I got the email about the first teaser for Unavowed, I thought to myself, boy, that sounds awfully familiar. So I looked back a bit, and sure enough, there it was: The March 2016 announcement of a new supernatural adventure game coming from indie publisher Wadjet Eye, about a centuries-old squad of supernaturals that quietly protects humanity from the demonic presence lurking in the shadows.

"If Dr. Seuss made a puzzle game, it would probably look like Figment," we said back in the mists of October, and if that doesn't make you want to at least give it a look then I really don't know what else to say. If it does, but you remain somewhat hesitant despite our enthusiasm (because let's be honest, it's odd), then you'll be pleased to know that a free demo is now available on Steam.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Mark Antoon, President of Nutaku, a digital distribution platform for adult games, revealed that they've been working with developers Pixel Dash Studios and EQ-Games to produce an adult version of Road Redemption, the motorcycle brawler developed as a spiritual successor to Road Rash.

But only in World of Warships, which today added the HMAS Vampire, which changed hands from the Royal British Navy to the Royal Australian Navy back in 1933. Yesterday, we learned more about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' much-anticipated desert map—including its name and details of its specific regions. Today, developer PUBG Corp has confirmed the existence of the previously rumoured jet ski and R45 six-shot revolver.

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption is the debut project from Dark Star Game Studios—a Hong Kong-based outfit whose team is comprised of ex-Ubisoft, Blizzard and Konami devs. I went hands-on with an early build at this year's Gamescom, and while what I played was a little rough around the edges, I enjoyed what I saw.

 

Total War: Warhammer 2 reveals free Skaven-themed update, out next week

GTA Online gets a new heist on 12 December—The Doomsday Heist is described as an 'epic new online adventure' that sees your criminal crew contending with 'apocalyptic' threats. The trailer above suggests that it'll involve a whole host of the new vehicles Rockstar has added to the game over the last few years, including the military bunker vehicles and the aircraft from Smuggler's Run. There's also a bloody submarine and underwater cars.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 surprised us at this year's E3 by actually showing face. After years of assuring us it was still in the works, Ubisoft dropped a fancy cinematic that contained zero in-game footage despite looking lovely. We learned that number two is a prequel and, judging by said E3 trailer, appears to go in a very different direction from its 2003 forerunner.
Today, at 5pm GMT/9am PT, Ubisoft will host a development update livestream.
