At this point I would prefer a hardcore mode, dq on contact. PD screwed up the penalty system and people have found ways to intentionally ruin your race while circumventing detection. Pushing you from behind out of a corner, from the side into a wall, cutting you off at the apex, pushing you into a shortcut penalty, it's all fine according to PD. Passing a wreck, hitting someone suddenly re-entering the track at a sharp angle, hitting someone throwing their car in front of / against you in the corner, hitting someone braking on straights, all down rated.

I know the difference between a bit of contact and intentional force. The physics engine should be able to figure that out as well. Ofcourse the AI drives the same so perhaps PD doesn't know any better.

I'm asking you...honestly...do you really think it is easy to programm essentially an A.I. which perfectly identifies all of this shit so no one will complain?! This will never happen. Accept it, people will always try to exploit the system. The more people play the more idiots are likely to appear.

People will also always find new ways to cheat, should online multiplayer games simply accept it and not ban cheaters nor write more sophisticated cheat prevention software?

By introducing a SR rating, PD has put it on themselves to make it be worth something. It will never be perfect, yet atm it's not even trying. It doesn't even look at secondary collisions. Get hit from behind, sure it's at least intelligent enough to not penalize you for that if it was a hard hit in a place you shouldn't be going that fast. Yet if that hit causes a chain reaction, ie makes you bump the person in front of you off track, you get the 10 sec penalty...
