I dont think microsft would really want to push the VR market the same as sony did, they are more likely going for the vavle way and trying to make the plattform as attractive as possible for developers. I would totally expect vr mode for some first party games like forza and halo though
I dont think any big player would really "wait and see". Its pretty likely that vr will get very, very big in the future (the tech is amazing and almost everybody that tried it was impressed). Wait and see would be the same nokia did with smartphones. No big company is that dumb.
Almost all big tech companies are already into vr and it has huge potential imo. I think with vr, gaming will reach way bigger audiences then it can do right now for example. |
Umm Zune? Windows Phone? :p
They're already on a wait and see path not supporting WMR headsets at the launch of XBox One. I'm afraid they'll keep focused on enterprise platform/software for VR and not really do much for gaming. Halo already had a VR 'experience' https://uploadvr.com/halo-recruit-windows-pits-flat-screen/ Here's the whole 5 minute 'game'
So my hope is more on MS putting OR/Steam VR on XBox One X to sell XBox One X and get the royalty from selling more WMR headsets, while giving us access to a growing catalog of PC VR games.
