Is it using DSC ? (If so you really can't call it raw 4K144Hz output since the image is being compressed over the interface to be able deliver that throughput) 

DP 1.3/1.4 is only capable of 25.96Gb/s so it is only able to reach raw 4K120Hz in sRGB colour space While HDMI 2.1 has a total bandwidth of 42.6Gb/s so it can comfortably deliver raw 1440P@240Hz or 4K@144Hz and even maybe oddball 4K@180Hz ... 

)It's using DSC but how bad can a slightly compressed 4K image really be? Should look better than 1440p.
