FreeSync is BS too but at least with HDMI 2.1 you don't have to deal with any of that bullshit including G-sync too ... (both solution are vendor specific garbage)
The first 4K144Hz monitor is probably going to be HDMI 2.1 cause VESA has NOTHING so far to respond ...
They haven't even announced the specs for DP 1.5 or 2.0 ...
