I would probably say they brought online gaming to console and lead the way in bringing it to what it is today.

So they took online gaming from PC games and made it available on consoles?? So not really innovative as such, because the technology already existed elsewhere and Sony etc would have added online at some point. Everyone was just waiting for the download speeds to get better.

I'm not a big Xbox fan, but I think Xbox didn't innovate with achievements, but made it more acceptable to the masses. I think achievements may be their legacy.

However I think the Xbox One will be a shining example of how Microsoft snatched defeat from the jaws of Xbox 360's success.
