The dock is a scaler, it doesn't "improve" graphics
It doesn't matter what the dock is, what matters is that the graphics improve when docked versus undocked (watch Digital Foundry on Super Mario Odyssey for example).

That's a third party peripheral for an Ipad that you have to buy separately (from a shady company like Game Vice) . The Ipad and its games aren't designed with physical buttons in mind. The controllers also don't work separately from each other like the joy cons do.

How about you actually read that article? Most of those games require people to bring their own device and game or are turn based. Nothing as complex as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I'm not sure why this is an argument, but there's nothing new that Nintendo has brought here to the table. The Switch is a nice product, but nothing here is reinventing the wheel. Not trying to diminish what it is, but honestly, would you have paid attention to the product if it didn't have Nintendo's backing behind it? The strength of Nintendo are its games. I remember when Nintendo fans said they didn't want a Vita because no one wanted to play a home console on the go. Well, here we have a home console on the go, and it's okay now. The Nintendo brand, games and dominance over the handheld market has made Switch a successful product.
Almost nobody wanted a Vita because it only plays obscure Japanese games and small non-demanding indie games. It barely has any games that can be labelled as "home console experiences on the go". The only games that come to mind are the ones Sony made in its first year (Killzone and Uncharted).

It really seems like no answer will ever be good enough. So, you got me man, Nintendo invented the detachable controller, the tablet, local multiplayer, gyroscope controls in tablets, video games, Japan, earth, the universe etc etc. It's like talking to a North Korean and telling them Supreme Leader didn't invent the car. The Switch is god church and all others bask in its glory. Praise be!
