Nice to see that you're back, Kwaad.

Anyway, the BD HDDVD war seems to be all but over at this point, and only a distinct competitive advantage for the HDDVD camp could save them at this point. Granted, this week, the HDDVD people have been sponsoring more price cuts for their movies, but that isn't anything that the BD people can't replicate.

THIS however, would be impossible to replicate in the span of at least 6 months:

There have been a lot of rumors about china finally starting to get in on the act to mass produce cheap HD players. A lot of consumers just won't want all the add-ons, myself included, and just want a great high-resolution player. China will probably be able to sell this in the $200-$250 range, which might give the HDDVD camp a big push. I'm not saying that it could be a huge push , b/c the BD people could always slash prices of their player by 100-150 bucks until their Chinese HD player comes out. But it is something.

We are still wating on confirmation of Chinnese company's manufacturing HD-DVD players. However the first Blu-ray player to come from china has already been anounced. It is being produced by gowell and should be out at the end of the year. Funai also intend to have a Blu-ray player out by the end of this year so the price of Blu-ray players should be competitive.
