I know this is an unpopular opinion but I didn‘ like To The Moon.

Was it the story/presentation or the gameplay/design?

TTM fans love this - sorry - ugly RGG Maker visual novel (falsely labeled as adventure game) for its "beautiful story" (surely not for it‘s beautiful graphics), but unfortunately I didn’t like the story at all. I wanted to like it but found it unnerving and overly sentimental. Plus, the fact that such a "deep" and grave story was fed to me in an ugly package with clunky controls made me almost despise the game for its laziness in development. If some Russian guys with hormonal overproduction can create something like this http://store.steampowered.com/app/331470/Everlasting_Summer/ or some romantic Chinese guys something like this http://store.steampowered.com/app/307050/Shan_Gui/ and put it on Steam for free or 0.99€ respectively, I can at least expect more dedication by other delevopers who create indie VN games. First rule for indie VN development should be imo: Don‘t use RPG maker. I think I can only stand RPG Maker games if they‘re light-hearted or don‘t take themselves too seriously.

I‘m aware though that I‘m in the minority with this opinion, the game sold 1.3 million copies acc. to Steamspy and most owners and reviewers loved it.

I like two aspects of the game though: The neat piano OST (bought it on https://freebirdgames.bandcamp.com/album/to-the-moon-ost ) and the fact that it only has one Steam achievement.
