I'm not a fan of replaying big rpg games, it's like watching a movie with someone next to you continuously spoiling the plot. Skyrim isn't the greatest rpg either.

However as the first full blown rpg in VR, it's simply amazing. Yeah it looks like a ps3 game with low-res textures, last gen lighting, low detail polygon models and plenty pop in everywhere. It does have some things over the ps3 version, more foliage, much much faster load times and most importantly a rock solid fps.

The low detail quickly fades into the background though, and that's coming from playing GT Sport in 4K HDR right before. Being in the world changes the game, also thanks to the excellent motion controls. I was skeptical about the use of the move controllers at first yet now I don't want to play without them. It could still use a patch to enable actual smooth turning (it's now smooth in 10 to 90 degree steps per button click, kinda missing the point there Bethesda...)

Motion controls make the game a new experience. Using the bow as fast as you can draw, aiming spells, hitting two enemies at once, shield bash, simply point at what you want to pick up. It also allows for some 'creative' gameplay. Hide in a cage and stick your arm out for free hits on some high level enemy, hide in a tight space and take out a giant and his mammoth with a volley of arrows, aim carefully between beams or a crack in the wall. Plus sneaking is much more enjoyable when you can actual look around the corner, or lean in through a window to snatch something.

Even though detail is low presence is already amazing. Just try to stare a dog in the eyes in VR. Having the characters actually next to you raises the game, I'm actually paying attention to what they're saying this time.

Anyway I'm blessed with zero discomfort and will be playing it many more hours continuously without problems. GT Sport is out, finishing SMO is in danger, Skyrim VR is the new king.

You're selling me...

I literally bought Skyrim on Switch Friday and the lack of mods made me buy it on Xbox One, too(thankfully on sale for $20) I can't afford to buy the same game three times in two days... can I?
