What's wrong with comparing the PS1 and PS2? Or PS4 and Wii/3DS... god forbid we compare sales of a consoles that released a whopping three YEARS apart. Though you haven't seemed to mind these comparisons in the past.

"The PS2 had legs that he PS4 simply won't have."

There's nothing wrong with comparing consoles of different generations, yet saying Switch isn't part of the same generation as PS4/XBO is premature, that remains to be seen. Switch could very well have a release date closer to PS4 than PS5, a software library that shares more games with ps4 than ps5, and spend more of it's life on the market with the ps4 than ps5. Shared generations are defined by peers, the Switch has none, so which it should be grouped with isn't yet known.

But no the comparison of sales between Switch and PS4 is neither unfair or illogical.

Let me make myself more clear. I think it's illogical and unfair to view these two consoles as competitors since they're separate generations and 3 years apart. The generational thing is self explanatory. The gap in years... well. That's like two sprinters competing in the olympics and letting one of them get a 20 yard head start. Not fair. Illogical. Outcome pointless.

When aligning the sales it would be the same as putting the two springers in different heats and just comparing their total time...
