I'd be cautious on trusting studies like these blindly - the study of humans is always a very vague topic. You will often find research showing a statement and other showing the contrary - scientific consensus takes more than a single study, in the domain, and judgment should be reserved until it is met. I could, for example, very well imagine that video games can serve to efficiently train to the standard tests used to determine intelligence (and yes, those can be trained), rather than truly elevating or serving as an indicator of global intellectual capabilities.
