One of the oldest first-person shooters in existence, and the second one I ever personally played. 'Wolfenstein 3D' played a large role in my lifetime interest in the second World War, but obviously also in my interest in this genre of video games. Even at a young age, I was allowed to play a game dripping in controversial imagery, but I'm glad I could.
The plot of the main game, which is divided into three parts, involves a soldier, the player, trying the break out of his prison at Castle Wolfenstein. Afterwards the player would carry out a mission to stop the Nazi plans to create a mutant army, culminating into the infiltration of Hitler's bunker where the player faces the famous robotic Hitler as final boss. Later on, expansion packs were released with additional missions, mostly serving as prequels.
Since this game has a high nostalgic value and has had a great impact on me personally, I revisit the game every once in a while. Still I didn't actually beat it all the way through, but I have made it to Hitler when only playing the final chapter once, strangely an epic moment in my gaming life.
