Fantasy Submarine: Week 10

Holy shit we did it. We finally did it. The Nohr Division leader remained the same for consecutive weeks. Round of applause for Noble!

In all seriousness, this week brought 5 blowouts and one really nutty one that game down to the end. Prepare for the magic of the utterly unpredictable Cam Newton!

Closest Game of the Week: NobleTeam360 102.56, The Loins 102.26

Well I guess this is what I get for thinking all the games were over by Sunday night. Noble was down by a whopping 35 points coming into the final game of the week, and then the Dolphins defense decided it would rather take Monday night off. Cam Newton threw for 254 yards and 4 TDs, ruining solid days from Matthew Stafford (22), Isaiah Crowell (16), Golden Tate (16), and Latavius Murray (13). Noble's (6-4) win streak climbs to three, and he becomes the first team leading the Nohr Division at the time to win a game against the Hoshido Division. Meanwhile, BlowoverKing's playoff hopes are done, as he falls to 3-7 on the year; 2 games + tiebreakers out of the playoffs.

Biggest Blowout of the Week: The Longest Foot 111.44, Lousy Pack 63.14

Despite Chris Thompson (7 points) and T.Y. Hilton (2) continuing to disappoint, Seth blew out Rol to keep his very slim hopes of a Division title alive. Tom Brady (23 points), JuJu Smith-Schuster (16), and Alvin Kamara (20) were the notable skill players to put up high points, while another strong performance from his kicker, Greg Zuerlein (17) resulted in Seth breaking the 110 point mark for the second straight week. Rol was let down by basically his entire team; only Ty Montgomery (13 points), Davante Adams (15), and Stephen Gostkowski (11) scored in double digits. Seth moves to 6-4 and remains as the #5 seed for the time being, while Rol basically has to win out to make the playoffs, starting this week against Angelus.

Most Playoff Significant Game Not Mentioned Previously: Nohrian Scum 102.42, Dongo's Gridiron Gamers 68.58

A game that looked a lot closer before the Monday Night Game; solid performances from Russell Wilson (19), Le'Veon Bell (11), Todd Gurley (13), and the Rams' defense (15) decided this game before Devin Funchess took the field and obviously turned in by far his best performance of the season when it didn't fucking matter anymore. In an utterly shocking twist, the Jets let Dongo down; Josh McCown (12 points) and Bilal Powell (2) contributed to a meager effort by Jordan Howard (5) to ensure Dongo didn't have a chance. I move to 7-3 on the season and am on the brink of clinching a playoff spot, while Dongo drops to 5-5 and is on the outside looking in for the time being.

The Rest:

ItErtzWhenEifert 95.83, Alpha Males 75.80

Arch 102.76, HanginwithHernandez 78.04

Arminillo 75.98, SCAB 55.40

Current Standings ("X" Indicates Playoff Spot Clinched)

#1: X-ItErtzWhenEifert (8-2, Hoshido Division Leader)

#2: NobleTeam360 (6-4, Nohr Division Leader)

#3: X-Arch (8-2)

#4: Nohrian Scum (7-3)

#5: The Longest Foot (6-4)

#6: Arminillo (5-5)

In the Hunt: Dongo's Gridiron Gamers (5-5), Lousy Pack (4-6),

Tiebreakers:

-Once again, all head to head. Ertz beat Arch in their first game of the season (and there will be a second), while Arminillo beat Dongo.

Clinching Scenarios:

Both Ludicrous and Angelus have punched their tickets to the playoffs, and barring a single crazy scenario where I lose out and Arminillo and Dongo win out and then tie in a rematch game, I have as well. But, that possibility still technically exists, and so the only clinch scenario for this week is...

-Nohrian Scum: Can clinch playoff spot with a win or tie, an Arminillo loss or tie, or a Dongo loss or tie.

Week 11 is the final week of interdivisional play, and the standings at the end will determine which teams you play in Weeks 12-13. It'd be really nice if Arch would hurry up and lose a fucking game already, and what better time than this week with Rol needing a win to keep his playoff hopes alive. You've already got a playoff spot clinched, you don't need anything else. And while we're at it, Ludicrous, if you want to impersonate your Broncos against Dongo (another team that needs to win to try and get back in the playoff field), that'd be great as well. Sadly, both of the teams above me in the Hoshido Division are heavily favored, so this will likely be one miracle that "never happen." Dongo needs this win pretty badly as well, as even if he were to defeat Arminillo (the current 6 seed) in a Week 12/13 game, he will almost certainly lose out on the points scored tiebreaker.

Noble plays Seth in a matchup of 6-4 teams. Noble needs this win to stay atop the Nohr Division, as he lost the first game of the year to Arminillo. On the flipside, Seth loses any shot he had at the Hoshido Division title with a loss. And, of course, if Dongo wins, whoever loses will suddenly be feeling a lot of pressure to win out (especially Seth, who would lose out to Dongo on the head to head tiebreaker if they end the season with the same record).

Speaking of teams with a slim chance of winning the Hoshido Division, I get my friend, the Sultan of Bad Trade Offers himself, HanginwithHernandez, this week. Guy tried to trade Emmanuel Sanders for Le'Veon Bell. Meanwhile, Arminillo plays BlowoverKing in a matchup that he needs to win in order to stay in the playoff picture. Finally, if you're curious who might wind up with the first round pick next year, SCAB plays Mike in a matchup of last place teams.
