That's specifically for EA Sports, not the entire EA Games

Ah.

But decided to look through EA games and see when I last bought one. Last games I purchased from EA were Mass Effect 1, Spore and Dragon Age Origins.

So, 2008, 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Since then I have not purchased a game from EA that I can see. I did download the Star Wars Battlefront 1 demo. And I suppose I got Battlefield 1 packaged with my One S (never did install it though. Suppose I could give away code to anyone that wants it)

well, there's the thing though... they have some really good games, some mediocre ones and others that are just borderline unacceptable.

Battlefield 1 for me is the best FPS of the generation for example. The game engine is fantastic (same one that is used in Battlefront), but they knew better than to lock power ups behind a paywall. Loot boxes exist with plenty of cosmetic items, some weapons are unlocked through credits (that are earned quite quickly) and definitely no special protections (less damage, more energy, etc) available to any player.

So unless you really dislike FPS's as a whole, I'd say give BF1 a try. Even the campaign is pretty good, which is saying something because Battlefield is to me a multiplayer game only.

I just feel bad for DICE who had probably a short development time to come up with anything EA could sell for the holidays. This loot boxes system just stinks of not enough consideration being put into the game's lasting appeal, so they thought a long grind would keep people interested and coming back for more.

BF1 came out last year, this year they are still releasing new map packs, while dealing with such a massive license as Star Wars and deliver 1 year later.

I just hope this can be a learning experience for them.
