Now I actually like playing in Handheld mode for doom aswell. I actually thought I was gonna hate it cause I can't play Splatoon 2 in Handheld but From works surprisingly well this way. The only thing that really is Jarring is how much worse the game looks in this mode, to me at least, especially since docked and unlocked basically have the same resolution for the majority of the time.
It's a great game though. I've run into the audio bug once and that really the o my bad thing I can say about it.
If any team were to deliver their game like what Panic Button have done. Regarding AAA games that are too much to tun on the switch then I'd be happy. |
Is that an audio bug where you close the map and get some randomly loud feedback?
I just had that happen and my TV was turned up. Scared the shit outta me.
Outside of the one bug, I've been having a great time. The game runs about as well as I could've hoped for, and it hardly deters from the experience. Just non-stop brutalism, and adrenaline packed fun.
I've also tried it in handheld mode, and I thought the resolution actually scaled better to the small screen. Seemed to be less blurry, and run a tad bit smoother. The main drawback was the slightly lower graphical quality, though it overall still looked amazing for a handheld. Controls in handheld took some getting used to, but started to feel more natural after a while.
I can see myself buying it again on PC, or possibly even Xbone if I cave and buy an X, just so I can get the optimal experience. However I'll definitely be coming back to this version too, whenever I want to go out and pack something for a little bit of ultra violence.

Nah the one where the audio just completely cuts out. Fixed it by reloading my checkpoint though 👌
