Generally (especially after what happened with Bioware) I'd say that EA buying a studio is a bad thing.
In this case though, after the excellent Titanfall 2 sold poorly, them buying Respawn is likely the best way to save the franchise. Additionally after playing Titanfall 2 I have high confidence that Respawn can make a truly great Star Wars game.
This is ignoring the fact that EA's appalling scheduling was significant in the poor sales of T2.
