Depends on how much you like long nonsensical humorous conversations lol. The first vita game starts really slow that I know some people were put off by the amount of character talks (that and the plot barely moving forward for a good chunk of the game). Personally, I feel like they could have cut like 3 hours from it, but I still enjoyed it in the end. The second vita game is much more story focused and overall better I feel.
If you've watched the original anime I think you can start with the vita games. You just need to know one thing and you're good to go !
