You need to max the moon count to 999

That's what I did.

By the way, your ambassador tag is covering up the fact that the girl in your profile picture wears no panties.

1. I think that the Coins in the Clouds level in Bowser's Kingdom is the fastest way. You'll get around.... 200 coins with each iteration of that level, which will take you around 1 and a half minutes to beat. But, I agree, the costumes are way over-priced and it demands coind grinding which is, basically, boring to do. It's not just about that 9999 costume, which is ludicrous, there are more outfits which are clearly overpriced compared to what you normally get in the game. I'd patch this and make outfits more manageable.

2. Are you talking about the reward from getting 999 moons in the Mushroom Kingdom? It's not worth the trouble of grinding coins imho. It's... a fireworks display and I think that a new hat (not sure about this though, but I'm 100% sure about the fireworks). So, I guess it's another case of Korok Seeds reward, it's just not worth it imho. There's a better reward in the Moon Kingdom, nothing stellar though, which allows you to re-fight Bowser but harder. But the reward is a simple postcard.

My intention is to play the game until I 100% the moons, because I'm having fun with it. But I don't think I'll bother with boring tasks like coin grinding.

1. I figured that the clouds in Bowser's Kingdom are probably the best way. That's a shame. Costumes cost way too much and should go for 999 coins at most. That would shave off about 15k coins from the total.

2. I got no fireworks or anything. I'd assume that a special scene triggers when approaching the castle.

1. Yep, I agree with this. Outifts are a cool reward to get, but they must be sure that it doesn't require coin grinding, which in a game like SMO is actually pretty boring and repetitive to do. And that's a shame, because I really like to collect outfits, but the boredom of getting them is just way superior to my desire to get them all xD.

2. I heard that a hat appears on the top of the castle and you could trigger a mini-cutscene with a fireworks display. Go up to where Yoshi is, and see if you can manage to trigger that cutscene. Maybe it demands to buy every outfit before? Not sure about this though.
