Xbox one x has 1440p support.

I'll have a play around with it later to see what is up. I might need a better HDMI splitter.

Looking at the console, it's a very boring looking black box. Hopefully there is a special edition later for something a little more vibrant.

X1X Console has sold out in Australia and its 2nd Batch has also sold out. I told you the $650 price tag is an amazing price especially in Aus.

I have to wait for the 3rd batch of X1Xs to be delivered to get my hands on one. Ill have to use my PC for the time being.

If any one knows a place with stock please let me know so i can pick one up.

$650 AUD is $498 USD right now. So we aren't being ripped off for once.

I sold my original launch Xbox One console with Kinect for only $100 AUD which went towards this... And did I mention how much I miss kinect? I am probably like one of 5 people on Earth that does. Haha

To me the X1X is the prettier of the 3 in this pile.

@ Pemalite: Serves you right for skipping the more attractive Scorpio Edition!

I was literally an hour late. AN HOUR LATE.
So I had to get into the second wave of pre-orders. Haha

Played some Overwatch. It's now locked at 1080P, it still looks soft on my 1440P display though, but way way way better than what it used to be when things got hectic.

Downloading updates for Halo Wars 2, Halo 5, Diablo 3 and a few 360 titles. I'll give them a spin later.

Well, regarding just jumping into a game, I like the PS4's way of doing it, like the 360 before that. Just put the disc in and go! Other than that, so far, the system is lovely!

Didn't a few Xbox 360 games have mandated installs though? Can't remember. Feels like a generation ago. :P

Main reason for the Xbox 360's precedent is that... There were variations of the console with no internal storage.
Some consoles came with 256MB, some with 4GB. - So developers needed to keep those console in mind.

But it was better overall IMHO.

The Playstation 3's install procedures was tiresome, seems Sony learned from that with the Playstation 4.

The install on PS3 didn't bothered me much (even though GT5 took a good while to install), but certainly PS4 makes it a no issue for disc based (if you skip the patches).

I can confidently say... The Xbox One X doesn't have 1440P support right now.

Tried it on two different 1440P displays, different HDMI cables (Including the one that came with the console.) and took the splitter out of the equation. (Which I shouldn't have to anyway as it handles 1440P 60fps from my PC just fine.)

No go.

Digging into the issue and doing some research... Apparently it's coming in the future, just like a bulk of the enhanced games (There is only a handful right now), rather than on release. Which sucks.
https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/11/2/16597100/xbox-one-x-1440p-support-confirmed

So I am stuck using peasant 1080P. At-least I can use 10-bit colour though.

Apparantly the user interface is also stuck at 1080P regardless of your resolution, which also sucks.
The bright side is... The Xbox One's UI uses allot of sharp and clean lines, so it doesn't upscale badly, but it would have been nicer if it would have been at native res.

UI was initially supposed to be at 4K, but they decided to make it 1080p to free up a bit more ram (8gb --> 9gb) for the developers to use, which is a great move imo.

I certainly wouldn't mind they freeing more than 10% RAM just by using a simpler UI and having more juice for gaming. To me PS4 and PS4Pro could use a very barebone UI and release most of the RAM to games (perhaps Scorpio will push Sony to release more for Pro).

UPS could not find my street address.... They will deliver it on tomorrow (called them to give them my work address so they don't get lost...).
Those suckers...

I receive packages from Amazon almost on a daily basis (Fedex, Post Canada usually), this is the second time this happens with UPS...

Oh well, tomorrow it for me.

Maybe UPS use Apple for their maps =p
