The second part of the news:

Microsoft asked the now-disbanded Runic Games to make another Fable title (and very nearly published Torchlight)

Torchlight and Hob developer Runic Games is sadly no more after its publisher Perfect World shut it down last week. Following the news, one of the studio's founders, Travis Baldree, has spoken to Kotaku about the early days of the company, and there's a couple of noteworthy insights. The most interesting for me is that before Perfect World decided to publish Torchlight (which is a brilliant action-RPG, by the way), Microsoft came very close to snapping the title up.

Ghost Story Games, formerly Irrational Games, is making an immersive sim
http://www.pcgamer.com/ghost-story-games-formerly-irrational-games-is-making-an-immersive-sim/
In February, 12 former developers from Irrational Games—of System Shock 2 and Bioshock—announced their new studio, Ghost Story. It later emerged that the they were working on a "small-scale open world" game that drew inspiration from Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis system, and now we know that the title will be a first-person immersive sim.

That was fast. On Friday Blizzard revealed Moira, Overwatch's latest healer, live on stage at BlizzCon. And now you can play her in the latest PTR update, which went live Monday afternoon.

>>And over here you can see all the skins for this new character.

Creative Assembly teases something new for Total War: Rome 2
http://www.pcgamer.com/creative-assembly-teases-something-new-for-total-war-rome-2/
Total War: Rome 2 came out in September 2013, which by my reckoning means that it's a little over four years old. A year later, the Emperor Edition was released, and then few months after that the Wrath of Sparta campaign pack was put out. And that was the end of it. Until today.

Microsoft looks at acquiring more studios to boost its first-party games output

Nintendo is built upon first-party software, and it's fair to say that much of Sony's success with the PlayStation has come from the same place. Microsoft did pretty well for itself with the Xbox 360, too. But the Xbox One? Not so much. That may change in the near future, however. Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Bloomberg that's a shortcoming the company hopes to change with increased investment in in-house game development, a process that could include launching new development studios, or acquiring some that are already out there.

>>I don't know you, but that almost sounds like a menace. You can share your thoughts at LudicrousSpeed's thread.

The Flesh God looks like Super Meat Boy but with rocket jumping
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-flesh-god-looks-like-super-meat-boy-but-with-rocket-jumping/
Rocket jumps are synonymous with early first-person shooters, especially Quake, the game that truly popularized the practice of launching yourself skyward with either the blast or recoil from firing a rocket launcher. And you can really see that reckless DNA in The Flesh God, a new 2D platformer that's taken rocket jumping to its logical extreme with a beefcake protagonist who pretty much only moves by firing a rocket that's as big as he is.

A new Heroes of the Storm patch that brings World of Warcraft dragon queen Alexstrasza to the fight is now live on the PTR. Alongside the new hero, the update also brings in numerous improvements to AI, a large number of bug fixes, and what appears to be a fairly major overhaul to Li Li.

Planet Coaster's one-year anniversary falls on November 17. The game's Anniversary Update won't quite make that date, but it'll be close—Frontier Developments has announced that it will be out on November 22, with a scenario editor, new rides, a Staff Management building, new picnic benches, and interchangeable coasters.

Build a sandy city then watch it fall to bits in Sandcastles
http://www.pcgamer.com/sandcastles-1/
I didn’t know that Sandcastles—an absolutely charming digital toy which caught my eye on itch.io—was by Patrick Smith’s Vectorpark when I started playing it. I really should have. It has that same attractive odd quality as his previous projects like Metamorphabet and Windosill.
