| Nem said: So, you want me to conclude on what other people are saying rather than give my own opinion? Wow... the internet keeps getting worse everyday. I'm afraid to inform, but humans aren't a hive mind.
Now to what you are saying, i disagree. Saying Joel was more violent without Elly. Honestly it couldn't tell. Do you say this based on the last level? Cause honestly he is always violent. I didn't notice a difference except in that last level when he finds out they are gonna kill her. But sure, i guess the first one started with a town district that was mostly safe and one can say it escalates progressively, though in truth it escalates pretty fast as soon as you leave the safe zone. Anyways the game does rely on gratuitous violence, it's the thing it went for. I don't see why you'd act surprised about it now cause they didn't give you a moment of respite at the start. The thing about this game is that Elly is pissed. So, pissed off person in a violence based universe equals more violence. If you didn't like it i don't understand how you enjoyed TLOU. |
If your opinion is that there is a double standard you are quite definitely "concluding on what other people are saying", buddy.
Your comment was quite literally misrepresenting the issues people have with that trailer as if they were a hive mind, where everybody loves the first game but dislikes the new one for "being violent".
If you'd spent a fraction of a second thinking about it, you'd have realized, as most people in this thread should have, that it would be quite silly of people to think this. Reading on the topic you would have realized that's not what people are saying, and moved on. Maybe next time.
As for the second part, wow, that is some poor understanding of The Last of Us, no wonder you didn't like it. It's also extraneous to the discussion as I used it as an example for presenting and selling violence, so let's move on.
What's that though? Oh, it's also some misunderstanding as to what I said. Quelle surprise!
I'm not surprised the second game is violent: nobody is. The comments, once again, are referring to the marketing, using what is quite clearly crude violence (cruder than your average video game anyway) without any context but "Elly is pissed" (something we have to assume from other bits of marketing).
This, the argument goes, does a clear disservice in presenting the game to anyone who wasn't already 100% on board with it. It also feeds into some quite nasty trends in using brutality against women in marketing.
You can disagree with the points made, but as most here have, you've elected to ignore them, yet pretend you know what people are talking about.
At least you aren't yelling about the evils of the SJWs ruining your game
