I'd say mixed heritage and would be of what ever nationality they reside, so German for example.
"I'm German, ethnically I'm a bit of everything as my grandparents came from all over the globe."
This isn't unusual in the United States, friend of mine is half Cree, quarter Mexican, and quarter Korean. Identity is a mix of those with some being more prominent case to case.
