As far as another great war between the Horde and the Alliance goes. Having Sylvanas Windrunner the leader as the horde is a good way to start that. I haven't been following it closely with the last few expansions but I doubt she has the compassion or understanding that Thrall did or even Vol'jin. She's a great character but she's brutal!

With all the big baddies and problems in the Azeroth the whole Horde vs Alliance thing comes off as super silly as they need to be united against such threats that continue to keep coming. At this rate it feels forced in order to maintain the faction war for PvP. Unity was even starting to seem possible near the end of WotLK.

Thing is, the big baddies we've known over the years, are now either dead, recently killed or locked away forever. The original big bad was between the old gods and Sargeras, but now that Sargeras is locked away for all eternity, that leaves the old gods and the void to defeat.

What else we have to keep in mind, is that realistically, neither side of the Horde or Alliance are quick and easy to forgive what each side had done to one another over the decades. Gen is clearly goading Anduin on towards another war, since Gen not only lost his son to Sylvanas, but he blames her for Varian's death at the broken shore, couple that in with the fact that Lorderon used to be Alliance territory (not far away from Gen's town either) and you've got Gen stacking things up towards wanting a war against the Horde.

Jaina is anothercharacter wanting war against what the Horde had done. She lost her lover and friends when Garrosh dropped the mana bomb over Theramore Isle. Before the bomb, she was in the middle when it came to working with the Horde and listening to what Thrall had to say, but now she's absolutely against the Horde and wants to see it destroyed, women and children included. She's gone off the rails and the new cinematic shows it. I think that Gen and co attack and try to demolish Lorderon, then Sylvanas and co go to burn Teldrassil, likely sparking off an even bigger war between the two factions.

The people that were there to quell both sides is either dead or have lost the plot, or were done wrong and now seek revenge. You also have to remember that these wars have been draining resources over the past few decades, so naturally another rgeat war will decide which faction gains access to said land and the resources that come with it. If one side wins this war, then the winner will naturally lead the loser to their side of taking on the Void lords.

I'd love for both to put their differences aside myself, as they tried to do so for legion (even if half of it crumbled when Varian died), but after what's been said and done, it's honestly hard to just put things aside so easily, after all that's happened.

People have been asking for improved PVP over the years, and well, a great war is a nice chance to show for PVP improvements and get the PVP crowd hyped to do battle, rather than small little public battle arenas from the vanilla days. For those that want to take on PVE content, there will be quests, dungeons, raids and world quests to take on.
