Not sure if that's the case. Early on they said the graphics were redone but the gameplay is essentially left the same.

While R&C is built from the ground up, completely new visual assets and not using the original code.

We will have to wait and see the final product, but I'm anticipating a remaster much like Halo 1, Halo 2, and Gears of War. Completely redone visual assets but using the original code and only minor changes. For example, Halo 1 Anniversary added split screen campaign which doesn't actually change much in the game.

It's tough to determine how to use these terms sometimes.

I'd argue that Gears, The Nathan Drake Collection, and the Halo Anniversary games are remastered. Since the games themselves are largely unchanged, they're just better looking versions of mostly the same assets.

I'd consider Crash a remake since the games are functionally the same, but they use all new assets and modernized controls.

R&C I think is more of a reboot than anything else. Since the game itself is actually different. With a new story, and new levels and such.

I don't quite know where this game falls,  but I assume it's just a remaster. Although a very good looking one.

This one is the same as Crash trilogy. It's a remake. It's basically the same game with the same levels but everything is redone from scratch with improved controls.
