In an extreme circumstance, sure. If a woman was running at me with a knife extreme... I'd punch first. Otherwise, no.
Had an abusive relationship once. Closest I came to hitting back was grabbing a pillow and smacking her with it a few times quite hard. Keep in contact with her too... Had a laugh about it. I understand that in the heat of the moment in can be quite hard to restrain yourself but typically hitting a woman is terrible, even in self defence.
