Question. About the Samus Aran.

Is Samus a female name ?

Samus Aran is a name actually derived from Pele's name (yes, the footballer), which is Edson Arantes. For some reason the Japanese pronounced "Edson" somewhat like "Samus" and then that was that.

Edit: ...well, at least that's where I read. It sounds a bit too stupid to be true, but it seems like it is.

When I heard first  I thought samus is male name .

It may be fictional name. Thanks.

It appears to be, from what I can gather, a derivative of the Celtic name Séamus, which is Celtic for James.  Specifically, the female form of that name.  However, it is not pronounced in the Celtic manner.

Thank you. But I can't  decide which is correct.

I'll look up more information.
