So the question is, what is the move from the industry going forward? Obviously there's money to be had in single-player games, a lot of the best selling games are single-player games. But how many of those games have focused entirely on multiplayer before? Would those franchises be more popular as multiplayer titles?

If companies in the gamin industry want to focus on just profit, then multiplayer is the way to go. Yet, companies like Ubisoft(yes I know they have popular multiplayer games) thrive almost entirely on single-player experiences. So what's to come? New IP's? Restructured franchises?

I think the safes bet is a continuation of microtransactions in single-player games.
