There is NO way PS3 hardware will hit 100k - zero chance.

MGS4 will sell around 250k-300k (software!) week#1 - and you would think that 80% of purchasers already have a PS3 (at least). This means about 30k bundles could sell, so total PS3 sales for the week could hit 30k-50k.

Lets not also forget that MGS is about as top-heavy as any title for the PS3, ever. Looking at a 50%-80% sales drop-off from week#1.

Find out soon enough...

Wow, who said that it would reach 100k? That's a bit...irrational.

Roadkillers: It won't get anywhere close to 500k. Metal Gear Solid 2 launched to numbers of 470k in Japan when the PS2 userbase was 6.2 million (it also sold 120k that week). As hyped as the game is on the PS3, it just doesn't have the userbase for it. 25% in the first week would be pretty unlikely.

Higher user base doesn't necessarily mean more units sold. MGS 3 sold less than mgs2 despite having about 80mil PS2 s sold when it launched. Competition (between games) also plays a part. Many people bought mgs2 who weren't real fans of the series (otherwise they would have bought part 3 as well considering how engrossing the mgs story is) because there weren't that many good games on ps2 at that time.

This is why I bought COD4 for my PS3 when I had never bought an FPS in my life previously (i.e because it was a good game and there weren't really any other PS3 games that were of matching quality when it released)

This line of reasoning is also why I think MGS4 will sell more than all the previous titles in the series (i.e PS3 owners won't have much else to play if they skip it so they may as well try it out after all the hype)
