Unhappy is a pretty strong word, but as a consumer, why the fuck do I care about what sells? My most played game of last year was Battleborn, which flopped. My most played game of 2017 is Dead by Daylight, a $30 small budget title. Also, sales are not always relevant to quality, or profits. Do you know that a game made by Evolution that "struggles to 2M" loses Sony a lot of money? Please share. They made Motorstorm, a great franchise. You know what would be better than a glorified GT Prologue at $60? A PS4 Motorstorm. And please, spare me the talk about money. Remember, this is good guy Sony, #4theplayers, they profit on only 3-4 out of every 10 games according to Yoshida. Can you also source where Turn 10 has over 300 employees? Not saying you're wrong, just curious. Also, in regards to the bolded, I'm measuring PD's productivity. You can try to deflect with shots at Forza, that doesn't change the fact that it took PD four years to release half a game. And, to be honest, it's not even just the amount of content that is baffling, it's what they focus on. Making car porn instead of a fully featured Gran Turismo title. Feel free to disagree. Yeah, the franchise has always been car porn, with detailed history of cars and manufacturers in pretty much every game, and amazing looking replays. But it used to have this in addition to a deep single player offering, and no limits multiplayer, now that's gone, in the chase of esports nonsense lol. |
The excuse to cut or keep a developer is the money it brings in, so as customer you may not care, but why wouldn't a company?
Just look their wikipedia.
Yes if this was GT7 we could discuss that all the take outs would be relevant, but again this isn't GT7, this is GTS. I would rather have GT7 than GTS, but that isn't a reson for me to give a bad score to GTS.
I'm not deflecting by taking shot at Forza. I'm comparing two similar games, one studio that is between 2 to 3 times the size of the other and that output twice as fast. To me it seems quite similar productivity. You were the ones taking shots at a studio, not me.
