As for your question, the police report and your insurence report, plus the medical examination report should be more than enough proof to have everything you have listed and have no problems with it with minor to no problems(especially since the man that hit you seems that wont fight back), so I dont see you hitting any issues or needing any laywers.But im no specialist.

As far as I know, and take this with a huge grain of salt since I am no expert and we dont live in the same country, since he was the cause of the acident his insurance should be the one to cover it.I know its his insurance job to fix your car an pay for all the bills, so it stands to reason that they should also pay for your lost wages.If the man insurance dosent cover that, than the man itself should pay.If he so refuses, well then thats where the laywer part comes in(and probably what your mom meant).
