I think it is a bit unusual people would say VR, it has come and gone multiple times.
And now, with billions of $$$ invested in it yet again, it still has not grown more than a fraction of the size of the Wii U user base (which so many people declaired very very dead...)
Maybe it has potential, but given how much time, research, and money has been thrown at it over the past 30 years, why hasn't that potential come to fruition yet???
Game streaming is another one. We saw both Onlive and GaiKai flounder and then get bought out by Sony, and now Sony has actually been downsizing how many devices they support with PS Now on rather than expanding. I don't know if anyone besides Sony is much of a presence in this space either. It just seems to indicate contraction of that market sector for the forseeable future.
It kind of reminds me of the 3D TV hype companies poured money and marketing into self-proclaiming the next big thing and then it just fizzled...
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, and yes I agree with you, the Hybrid console actually brought me back to buying and playing games after having given up on where everything else was headed.
