I'm not saying Destiny was the best game of the 8th gen, all I'm saying is it was the most noteworthy with its release timing and big names backing it: Activision and Bungie, the latter of which had never developed a prominent sci-fi shooter for the PS platform.

GotG is not always a form of praise. For me, Destiny is worthy of the GotG label for how disappointing it was despite its great promise.

ET is potential candidate of being a Game of its Respective Generation because of its impact on the industry at its time. Notorious lack of quality that hurts an industry can make you a GotG.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I am not understanding how you arrived to your definition of Game of the Generation. Typically, that doesn't mean most infamous game or most hyped game. It usually means best or most impactful.

I can see Destiny having a lot of hype due to the people backing it or how it had so much potential. But I am struggling to reconcile those things with reason for a game to get Game of the Generation recognition.

No offense, but it just sounds like you're making that definition up. I guess, technically, YOUR GotG can be any game, because that's a personal pick. I just never heard of the reasons or definition you gave for a game being GotG. Further, could you name another generation where the GotG was a huge disappointment like Destiny? Because I can't think of one.(Edited, because I missed that last sentence. However, ET was never a GotG. Especially after releasing 2 years after Pac Man. I think you are mistaking notorious for generation defining.)
