It's almost like overpromising, overhyping your game and then failing to deliver and then either abandoning what you did launch to die (Titanfall 2) or using the shell as a hub to plug in DLC in hopes of squeezing your audience for every cent (Destiny), thus burning your fanbase and becoming the embodiment of disappointment all for the sake of momentary financial gains is a bad long term business strategy.

This really has been the Year of the Lootboxes. So many big games are adopting this practice: Destiny 2, AC Origins, Forza 7, Shadow of War, Battlefront 2. I understand that game development has become very expensive, but fleecing the consumers doesn't sit right with me.
