When I went trekking in the Himalayas, i Happen to come across some “funerals” that were happening there. My Nepalese guide insisted we stayed and watched so I did. They basically built a pyre out of long chopped wood and built it up to maybe 3-4 foot high then the body would be carried out which was wrapped in non-coloured cotton and layed on top then they burnt them. It seemed a much more better and natural way of doing it rather than the way we westerners doit. It was done in the open and it was more a celebration of their life (there were obviously some people crying) but it just seems more proper, people were dressed in brighter colours rather than the dull morbid black that we do it. That’s the way I’d like my body to be rid of but sadly it’s illegal to do it that way in my country.
