AngryLittleAlchemist said: Your survey backed it up, but I still question it's validity. But the mods are enforcing rules. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8587099 It just seems like you want very specific rules. You're not a dictator of this site. To expect an emulation thread to not talk about current gen games, or games on store shelves, is ridiculous when your examples are games on last gen consoles. Persona 5 and Breath of the Wild can both be accessed on Wii U and PS3. They are games made on old hardware. Emulating them on a PS3 or CEMU emulator is not something wrong. You just want to stop discussion on them. Do you expect every copy to be sold before we can officially talk about them? It's just ridiculous - you acknowledge that emulation can be legal, and that you can buy Persona 5 and play it legally on a PS3 emulator, but then say that we can't talk about it because some store might have it in stock? What is the sense in that? |
Well if you question it's validity go out and prove that the samplesize isn't big enough.
"Woooooooooooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. That is such a ridiculous notion. How can you even reach that conclusion? There is a difference between some users pirating, and a thread actively supporting or advocating for piracy. The mere existence of an emulation thread does not mean there is piracy advocating going on. "
I'm not a fan of people hiding behind what's possible as opposed to what's probable. Sure, it's possible that nobody is advocating piracy, but it isn't probable, given the high rates of piracy amoung PCgamers. Once you start advocating for what's possible in a defense of something you can defend pretty much anything, because now you are demanding absolute 100% proof against your own position, even when the evidence is already against you. It becomes a form of verificationism, instead of following the evidence to the most likely conclusion.
They are enforcing a set of rules that is designed overwhelmingly to keep people from derailing the thread. Only one of the rules even so much as tries to reign the piracy aspect of it in. The other three were tailor made to make sure that the thread stays on topic. If they were interested in fairly moderating the issue at hand they'd have more than a single rule against piracy in general.
As I said with VGPolyglot the two versions of the games are virtually identical. They are not simply last gen games. They are both current gen and last gen games. I expect the Switch/PS4 to be last gen before we can talk about emulating them. Or at least wait until three years from now when 95% of stock is off store shelves.
