Blizzard didn't "ruin gaming". For most of their history they've been very hesitant to adopt annoying business models, being one of the very last non free-to-play MMO's, avoiding most DLC, and simply dropping games entirely when they feel they aren't good enough (Warcraft: Lord of the Clans and Starcraft Ghost, both games I was dying for). There's been times I've been irritated by their decisions (such as splitting Starcraft 2 into three entirely seperate, full price games for instance), but overall they've been superb compared to most giant game publishers.

Using a model that existed before them in a rather responsible manner does not make them at fault when others take the douchebag route with them. Focus your frustration on the asshats doing it wrong right now, rather than casting about for someone else to blame.
